BARLOW, Gertrude Lois – 98, formerly of Kentville, passed away peacefully on April 26th, 2016 at the Villa St. Joseph du lac, Yarmouth. Born in Centreville, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late J. Roy and Ella (Burns) Margeson; also predeceased by her husband Patrick (1992), her twin brother Ernest (1993), elder sister, Hilda Reece (2009) and youngest sister, Edna Killam (2015). Mom learned to play the piano `by ear` at a very early age. Understanding that music has the power to touch the hearts of people young and old, she brought a great deal of happiness to many in the community, through the warmth of her piano playing. She was an avid bridge player, enjoying in-particular Duplicate Bridge. Being a former member of the Ken-Wo Golf Club, the Glooscap Curling Club, the Rebecca Lodge and many years with the choir of the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville, gave her much happiness. She is survived by her daughter Judy (Bob Hayes), Carp ON and her son, Bob (Pauline), Carleton, Yarmouth Co. NS; grandsons Gregory Hayes (Lorrie, daughters Abby & Anna), Stittsville ON, Geoffrey Hayes (Kelsey Edwards), Ottawa ON and Travis Barlow (Tanya, son Hunter), Halifax NS.; Pauline’s son Derek LeBoubon (Michelle, children Lexi, Niam, Madison & Gabriella), Cox’s Cove NL and daughter Michelle LeBoubon (Bob Maxwell), Cormack NL. Mom leaves her sister Muriel Blanchard, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Her family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at the Villa, particularly to those in the Sarah Corning Villa for the loving care and friendship during her reclining years. In keeping with Mom’s final wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Kentville. Interment will be at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. For those wishing, donations may be made to a charity of choice, in Gertrude’s memory.
