Hazel Bernice McDonald passed away on April 18, 2016 in Prince Albert. Hazel was born November 11, 1924 at Wilkie, Saskatchewan, the youngest child of Charles and Christina Gratrix. Hazel is survived by her sons Jock (Evelyn Martin), Ian (Carol Wawryk) and Jeffrey; eight grandchildren Jessica and Kirk Eaton, Christopher, John, Graham, Evan, Tegan and Ellen McDonald; son-in-law Russel Eaton; sisters-in-law Leafie and Margaret McDonald; special niece Lesley Gregorash and her son Sean of Burnaby, BC; and several nieces and nephews. Hazel served in the WRNS (Navy) as a dental assistant during the war, stationed in Esquimalt, BC. In January 1951 she married Woodrow. They spent all their married years in and around Prince Albert. Hazel was a long time member of Messiah Lutheran Church, active in Faith Circle. She was very proud of all her grandchildren, encouraging them in all their endeavours. She was predeceased by her husband Woodrow “Woody”; her only daughter Joan Eaton; her parents Charles and Christina Gratrix; sister Meryl Gregorash; brother Jack Gratrix; parents-in-law J.C. and Amanda McDonald; brothers-in-law Jerry Gregorash, Ozzie, Jim and Art McDonald; sisters-in-law Burneice McDonald and Maxine Cooke Garvie. Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 – 15th Avenue East, Prince Albert SK with Pastor Iris Kristjansdottir officiating. Private Family Interment will be held. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations gratefully received by Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 - 15th Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 8A1 or to the Prince Albert SPCA, PO Box 1832, Prince Albert, SK S6V 6J9 or to a Charity of Donor’s Choice.
