Waldo J.H. MacDonald
Waldo J.H. MacDonald of Millis passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was 86.
Born and raised in Prince Edward Island, Canada, he was the son of the late Waldo and Mary (Jarvis) MacDonald. Moving to the Boston area in 1960 he settled in Millis where he had been a resident since 1962.
Mr. MacDonald was an active communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Millis. He also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. One of his favorite hobbies was collecting different types of antique coins and guns. Waldo mostly enjoyed taking trips back home to Prince Edward Island with his family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret “Marge” (Doyle) MacDonald. He leaves behind his children Cathy Fournier and her husband Kris of Charlottetown, PEI, Teresa Delaporta and her husband Michael of Millis, Terry MacDonald and his wife Lisa of Millis and Bernie MacDonald of Millis. He was the loving brother of Margaret Fisher, Elenor Cheverie, Anna Mae Goes and Elwin MacDonald. Also survived by grandchildren Danielle and Catherine Fournier, Maggie, Michael and Joseph Delaporta, T.J., David, Hannah and Whitley Macdonald. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Oickle, Teresa Gallant and Hazel Corr and brothers, Joseph, Daniel and Bernie MacDonald.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange St, Millis, burial to follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve St., Millis.
