Stephen Fowlow

Born: September 14th, 1962

Passed on: May 20th, 2016

Passed away May 20, 2016 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville in his 53rd year. Steve was born in St. John's on September 14, 1962 and grew up mainly in Stephenville, graduating from Stephenville Integrated High School in 1979. He attended Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Memorial University and Westviking College, before eventually moving to Southern California in 1989 where he worked within various aspects of the motion picture industry. He had an encyclopaedic knowledge of movies, directors and actors. In 2012 he returned to Newfoundland to pursue a dream of becoming a Visual Artist. Unfortunately cancer prevented this dream from becoming a reality. His wide circle of friends and family will greatly miss his ready wit, his talent for drawing, music, and acting and his impromptu imitations of well known singers and movie stars, many of whom he had met personally. Steve especially enjoyed sharing his knowledge of art and music with the younger members of his family, cultivating a new generation of musicians and artists. He is survived by his partner and friend, Judi Gale; his mother Juanita Davis (Derek) and father Douglas Fowlow (Georgina); his sister Susan; brothers Jamie (Renee) and Sandy (Sandra); four nieces Davis, Sadie, Ellie May, and Julia; two nephews Colin and Owen; and a large number of aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as three step-daughters Jennifer, Joanna and Jessie in California. At his request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or memorial service. His ashes will be interred at a private family gathering at a future date. Donations in his memory may be forwarded to the Southwest Coast branch of the SPCA at P.O. Box 81, Stephenville, NL, A2N 3P2 or swcspca@hotmail.com.
