Carol Donalda 'Donna' Smith
Born: February 9th, 1947
Passed in: Sydney Mines
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister and friend Carol Donalda ‘Donna’ Smith.
Donna was formerly of Sydney Mines, but has been a long-time resident of the Northside Guest Home.
Born on Feb. 9, 1947, Donna was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Catherine (MacDonald) MacLean of Florence.
Donna was very active in her community over the years in bowling, Tops, senior clubs, shopping tours, and especially bingo. Her sisters were privileged to spend time with her on a daily basis and enjoyed her company and dry humour as well as cared for and spoiled her. Through her illness she never complained or asked for anything.
Donna is survived by her siblings, Maxi (Sharon), Ontario, Beryl (Donnie) Forrest, Millcreek, Allie, Frenchvale, Louvine (Lenny) Bonnar, Florence, Darlene MacLennan, Millville, Sherry (Joey) Thurbide, New Campbellton, Kenny (Cathy), Florence, and BJ (Frankie) Georges River. Also surviving are daughters, Dawn Roberts and Linda Smith, grandchildren, Ashley (Kelsey), Alex, Haley, Jasmine and Jerrett, who she raised until her illness. Jerrett, you were her boy! She is also survived by great-granddaughter Nora, niece and goddaughter Christa, special niece Cathy-Anne, and grandniece Carlie, who she called her seventh grandchild.
Besides her parents, Donna was predeceased by her husband William (Duke) Smith, first granddaughter Felicity, brother Billy, and brother-in-law Billy MacLennan.
Cremation has taken place as per her wishes, and there will be a family only graveside service officiated by Major Kent at the New Campbellton Cemetery under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home.
Donations in Donna’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Northside Guest Home Activities Department, or the Salvation Army.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
We loved you and will miss you! A special thank you to the staff at the Northside Guest Home, for your dedication. Thank you also to Dr. Kohlsmith, Dr. Ritter and Cathy MacMillan.
