MAXWELL, Warren Baxter
Passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at Health Sciences North. Born and raised in Truro, NS by mother Naomi and William Maxwell (both predeceased). He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita (née Laforest), his daughters Paulette (Laura), Joanne McLean (Terry), Wendy (Joanne) and grand-daughters Stephanie (Shawn) and Lauren (Kyle); brothers George, Johnny (Edie), Darrell (Heather), Scotty, Danny (Karen), James (Maxine), Freeman (Beverly) and Stan (predeceased), Cleo (predeceased); and by his sisters Marg, Ruth (Burton), Shirley (Anthony), Patsy, Betty Lou (Morris) predeceased, Kathy (Stan) predeceased and by many nieces and nephews. As a young man he enjoyed playing hockey before moving to Sudbury in 1951 where he worked as an electrician in the acid plant at Falconbridge and retired in 1986 after 33 years of service. He was a very caring man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Max enjoyed going “home” for their annual golf tournament and reconnecting with old friends and family. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time at the trailer on Daoust Lake. He enjoyed umpiring and reminiscing about his time playing baseball for the Garson Greyhounds, especially when he was the winning pitcher in a big championship game. A special thank you to the staff of CCAC for taking such good care of Max. To honour Max’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date in Truro, Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury.
