Jennifer Bisson

Passed on: May 23rd, 2016

JENNIFER ELAINE MILNE BISSON
With heavy hearts we said goodbye to our beautiful Jen, on May 23, 2016. Her leaving was gentle and peaceful, surrounded by loved ones, after over 6 years of contending with Ovarian cancer. We are heartbroken and will have a void in our lives that can never be filled. Jen was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 15, 1972. At the age of 1, the family moved to their farm, returning to Saskatoon at the beginning of school, attending Alvin Buckwold, Lakeview, and Walter Murray Collegiate. She was involved in cheerleading, baseball, and volleyball. Jen also completed her Royal Conservatory Grade 8 piano. Following her graduation from high school, she attended a one-year program at the Baptist Leadersip Training School in Calgary, Alberta. Following that she attended the University of Saskatchewan obtaining her B.A. (Honours) and Degree of Master of Arts (History), defending her thesis on the role of the Homemakers' Clubs of Rural Saskatchewan, a subject that was dear to her heart, in the changing role of rural women 1911-1961. Jen spent two months attending the University of Nice, France, and also completed the French Immersion program in Quebec. After university, she and a friend backpacked through Europe, where she became immersed in her love of history, foreign cultures, and heritage, which became her passion in her career. Jennifer lived her life to the full and accomplished many things, but the most important thing about her was the way she could connect with people. She was fiercely loyal, loving, kind and forgiving. When she entered a gathering her smile lit up the room. Jen loved God, her family, her friends, nature, especially prairie scenes, mountains, and her farm. She loved to debate but was always willing to listen. Jennifer's Christian faith, and her loving husband Steve, along with a multitude of support people, were her anchors in her journey through the years of cancer. Her immeasurable inner strength was an inspiration to all. She loved their dog Max and he was her constant companion through many days of illness. Survived by her loving husband Steve, parents Brenda and Ray Milne, brother Courtney (Rae) and their children Matthew, Marcus, Jackson, Alexis; twin cousin Nikki Milne Robinson (Stephen) and their children Cameron, Makayla, Olivia; parents-in-law Mary Ann and Don Bisson; sister-in-law Linda (Tom); nephews and nieces Natasha (James), Alicia (Bert), Brian (Sean), Kaylla; brother-in-law Alex (Deb), many special aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as great-aunts, great-uncles and extended family. Special thanks to the staff of the General Hospital 6A, and Pasqua Hospital Wards 3B and 4D for their compassionate, dedicated care which helped carry Jen through this difficult time. Words cannot express the heartfelt, loving care provided to Jen by the nursing staff, each in their own way, during one of the most challenging times of her journey. As a family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Celebration of Jen's Life will be held at First Baptist Church, Regina, Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 12:00 noon. Memorial donations may be made in Jen's name to the Ovarian Cancer Canada, 205 – 145 Front Street East, Toronto, SK M5A 1E3 or to First Baptist Church, 2241 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 0S4.
