Blades, Irene Matilda- age 101, Roseway Manor, Sandy Point, formerly of Carleton Village, passed away peacefully in Roseway Manor on May 25, 2016. Born in Clarks Harbour, Cape Sable Island on September 8, 1914, she was the eldest daughter of Maitland Kenney and Josephine (Nickerson) Kenney and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a much loved wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge and the United Baptist Church. Her family was very important to her and she loved having children around. She enjoyed housework and liked to keep her home spotless. She liked to sew and knit. Irene enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, until her eyesight failed. She always attended church until she lost her hearing and then she faithfully watched the Sunday morning church services on T.V. She is survived by her daughter, Josephine Lally, Tennessee, and her son, Roy (Carole), Carleton Village; 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Clarice (Harry) Rennehan; sisters, Hilda (Stanley); Susan (Wesley), Corrine (Elijah); Barbara (Richard), and her brothers, Robert (Netta) and Albert (Marion) and grandson, Kenneth Lally. No visitation by request. Rev. Edwin Allen officiated her Funeral Service in H.M. Huskilson`s Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 30th at 2:30 pm followed by a reception. Burial was in Carleton Village Community Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to World Vision or charity of your choice. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Riley and the staff at Roseway Manor for their loving care of Irene for the last three years.
