Garfield Roy Forrest
Garfield Roy Forrest of Debert, passed away suddenly in his home on June 10, 2016, he was 73 years old. Garfield is survived by his wife Irene (Andrews) Forrest, his daughter Patricia Oxner, son-in-law Tony Oxner and his two grandsons Tyler and Sam Oxner. He also has a son who lives in PEI. He was predeceased by his sister Lorna McPhee, his sister Shirley Goldsack and his brother Robert Forrest. He is survived by his sister Dianne Ewanyshyn (of Manitoba), Verda Drinkwater (of Alberta) and his brother Alvin Forrest (of Manitoba).
Garfield move with his family of Debert in 1988 from Manitoba. He was a journeyman carpenter and worked in the trade for over 30 years. He worked for the Manitoba provincial government for many years as a supervisor for Northern Housing in Churchill, MB. Before marrying in 1964 Garfield spent 3 years in the Navy and that passion of military stayed with him for years to come. Garfield finished his working career at Kohler Windows, where he was known to many. He was known for his out spoken attitude and was especially known for his passion of politics. He retired from Kohler Windows in 2007.
Garfield love gardening, history and of course politics. He loved to debate all current affairs and was passionate in his views.
Garfield love his grandsons. He was a huge part of their lives and had great plans for them this summer. One was to learn how to fly fish.
Garfield will be really missed. He was a good husband, a wonderful father and a spectacular grandfather.
As per Garfield’s wishes he was cremated and brought home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Garfield’s honour to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Wayward Cats Society of Colchester County
