GLENDON GEORGE  LOCKE

Glendon George Locke, 84 of Bible Hill, went home to be with his Lord on June 25th surrounded by his family. Glen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Margaret (Sutherland), and their five children, Kevin (Betty) Locke of Quispamsis, NB; Terri (Larry) Sutherland of North River, NS; Geoffrey (Debra) Locke of Fredericton, NB; Trevor (Diana) Locke and Crysta Locke (George Eldershaw), both of Truro; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Glen is also survived by brothers Frank (Hazel) Locke of Brookfield; Keith (Eldora) Locke of McAdam, NB; and Ruth (Leon) Colburne of Truro. Glen was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Irene Locke, his brothers Donald and Wayne and sisters Reta Purdy and Marjorie Illsley.
Glen was born in Brookfield, NS. His career included working for Imperial Oil in Halifax , operating an ESSO service station and later the Petro-Canada station in Stewiacke.
Glen loved his sports and always played to win. He played competitive volleyball for many years with the Fairview Aces, who were recently inducted into the Maritime Sports Hall of Fame. He bowled in many leagues and took up golfing in his fifties.
Glen was very active in the community, as a town councillor, involved in the Seniors Games, and various positions at church. His family and his faith were very important to Glen.
A sincere thank you is extended to Dr. Murray for his years of care. Thank you also to the staff of the third floor medical wing and the palliative care unit at the Colchester East Hants Health Care Centre for their care of Glen. Thank you also to the VON nurses and home support workers who provided care and support for several years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28 from 6:30pm to 9pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday June 29 at 4pm in Immanuel Baptist Church, 295 Young Street, Truro. Pastor Cory Somers, officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall. Donations in memory of Glen can be made to the Alzheimer Society Research Program, Immanuel Baptist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
