It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Companion announce his passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the age of 90 years. He leaves to mourn with loving memories, his wife Cecilia (nee: Young); children: Brenda Hann (Bob) and Brian Companion (Pamela); grandchildren: Robert Hann (Carol Ann), John Hann (Rosalyn), Doug Hann (Glenda), Christopher Companion (Rachel) and Lisa Companion (Nathan Blanchard); great-grandchildren: Wendy Stewart (John Lavers), Jonathan Stewart and John Hann Jr.; great-greatgrandchildren: Sophie and Owen Lavers; brother Eric Companion (Rhoda Mitchell); sisters: Jean Wheeler and Rhodena Loder; brothers-in-law: Gordon Young (Kay) and Wally Young; sisters-in-law: Rita Hall Mendes (John), Susan Hillier (Billy McLean), Rose Morgan (Dave), Marian Cheater, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by daughters Mary and Jacqueline; brothers: Will (Annie), George (Teresa), Harold (Nina) and Fred (Mabel); sisters: Leona Parsons (Arthur) and Mae Brake (Foster); brothers-in-law: Joel Wheeler, Bill Loder, Edward Young (Alice), John Young, and Walter Young (Mary); sisters-in-law: Elvie Companion, Rita Companion, Teresa Radford (Tim), Annie Perrier (Fred), Kay Brockway (Bert) and Marie Jesso. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Church of St. Mary The Virgin, Curling Street on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2 pm, with The Venerable Ed King officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of one's choice.
