Robert Firlotte

FIRLOTTE, ROBERT
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert John “Bobby” Firlotte on June 28, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Robert was born in the Annapolis Valley, NS on July 22, 1964 to the late David and Constance (Mackenzie) Firlotte and was the loving husband of 26 years to April (Cannon) Firlotte.

Robert was a gentle man, brave and fearless who loved the open road. He used to say that he “Loved the open highway and the freedom it gave” him. Robert was in love with new cars and always made sure he showed up with a new one every couple of years. He was an avid fisherman and movie buff, and a huge fan of the old time country music. He was a long haul trucker by trade working for Caldwell Transport and always used to send pictures or give vivid descriptions of the lightning storms he saw on the highway to April back at home, because he knew how much she adored lightning storms. He was taken far too soon and it’s hard to imagine he won’t be seen again sitting on the deck, with a cold one in his hand listening to the Jamboree.

In addition to his wife April, Robert is survived by his daughter Laura Ann Firlotte (Jesse Cathline), brothers; Allan (Dawn) and Scott Firlotte, sisters; Laura “Polly” Firlotte Ferguson and Peggy Beach, granddaughter Brooke and he was anxiously awaiting the upcoming arrival of his second granddaughter Robyn. Robert will also be dearly missed by his married family, the Cannon’s, who were as close to immediate family as one can get without being born into it. Robert will be sadly missed as well, by his Caldwell Transport family, especially his supervisor Gordon Homer. He was a valued employee and his absence will be felt strongly.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646–2424).

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 2 from 12 to 2pm. A celebration of Robert’s life will follow at 2pm from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.

Donations made in Robert’s name can be placed to Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
