Shelly Makowsky-Pohl

Shelly Anne Makowsky-Pohl
Shelly was born January 12, 1974 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. On May 1 that same year, the family of 3 moved to Canora where they began their life on the farm. In June of 1976, Shelly was joined by her brother Robert. Shelly went to school in Canora and in 1992, she graduated from the Canora Composite High School. That fall, Shelly went on to continue her education at Palliser Institute. In 1994, she received her Diploma in Business and Marketing. Shelly worked at the offices of Palliser Institute, SaskFerco and WestCan Trucking. Shelly married Gregg Pohl of Moose Jaw on December 30, 1995. In 1996, she began her battle with thyroid cancer. Despite her illness, the family was blessed with the birth of their first son Michael in August of 1998, and second son Timothy in January of 2000. Times weren't always easy for Shelly, but despite her illnesses she always maintained a positive spirit and quietly smiled through good times and bad. She was especially happy spending time with her family and had a special devotion to her two sons Michael and Timothy. She loved music, her pets and had such a caring heart for everyone around her. She was well known as a second mom to all her sons' friends. Shelly is survived by her parents Morley and Louise Makowsky, sons Michael and Timothy Pohl, brother Robert (Kenzie) Makowsky, nephew Kalem, niece Kamaya, uncle Barry (Rose Marie) Makowsky, auntie Sonia Shearer, cousins Jackie, Jeannine and Jennifer, their spouses and children, and numerous relatives and dear friends including Shelly's special friend Jason Landrie and his children Jace, Jordan, Shae-Lynn and Josh. She is predeceased by her Gido Maurice and Baba Lena Makowsky and Baba Ann Woytiuk. A Memorial Service for Shelly will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Leson's Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Shelly Ann Makowsky-Pohl.
