Marianne Elizabeth Yeowart

YEOWART, Marianne Elizabeth (nee Brown) left us on July 3, 2016 in Brisbane, Australia. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Philip Yeowart, and her parents, Marion and Ross Brown. She is survived by her brothers Jack (Shirley), Tidnish Cross Roads, NS and Don (Pat), Ottawa, ON plus sister Margie Erkkila (John), Ocala, FL and their families. Marianne will also be missed by many cousins, the Yeowart family in Australia and close, supportive friends in both countries.
Marianne was born on August 8, 1947 in Grand’ Mere, Quebec. She also spent her formative years in Hemmingford and Aylmer, Quebec with summers in Nova Scotia. She trained and worked as a registered nurse in The Montreal General Hospital, eventually moving to Amherst, NS to nurse there. In 1974 she emigrated to Australia, met her future husband in Brisbane and made her home in Clifton Beach, Queensland. After Phil’s death in 2002, Marianne divided her time between Clifton Beach and Tidnish Cross Roads.
Marianne will be remembered by all for her courage and determination in combating the challenges caused by debilitating strokes. Until the last year of her life, she rarely allowed anything to stop her from doing what she felt she needed to do. Although unable to speak, she was usually able to communicate her wants pretty clearly!
A memorial service for Marianne will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. in Lorneville United Church. Those wishing to make a donation in Marianne’s memory may do so to Lorneville United Church or the charity of their choice.
