Jessie W. Dow
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jessie W. Dow (nee Campbell) of Halifax. Jessie, aged 78, died peacefully at home on July 14th, 2016. Born in Grahams Road, PEI, Jessie was the youngest child of the late Hugh Archibald Campbell and Jessie Katherine Campbell (nee MacKay). Jessie attended Prince of Wales College and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Mount Saint Vincent University. She worked both at the Canadian Cancer Society and Dalhousie University, Department of Continuing Medical Education. Jessie was an active member of the Rockingham United Church, she was on the Board of Victoria Hall and volunteered with UNICEF, the Heart foundation, Cancer Society, Meals On Wheels and the Halifax Infirmary. Jessie's favorite pastimes included playing bridge, supporting Neptune Theatre, attending book club and traveling with husband John to visit her grandchildren in Italy and Vancouver. Jessie is survived by her husband of 50 years John M. Dow of Halifax; son Alex Dow, daughter-in-law Elain Ng and grand daughter Celene Dow-Ng of Vancouver; daughter Anne Dow and grandson Alex Spini of Italy; sister Elaine (late Fred) Dimond of Charlottetown, and brothers Louis (Clemmie) of Grahams Road and Malcolm (late Doreen)(Mary) of Stanhope and many nieces and nephews. Jessie was predeceased by her brothers Gordon (Grace), Elric (late Erma/late Anna), Millar (Ada) and Ewen (Evelyn). Jessie was dearly loved by family and friends, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family wishes to recognizes and thank all her doctors, nurses and health care specialists involved with the last years of her life. A service will be held at the grave site in the New London Cemetery, 10743 route 6 (500 m West of Grahams road) on Saturday, August 20 at 10:30 a.m. A reception and celebration of life will take place at New London Community Complex, 10227 route 6 (1.3 km East of Grahams road) on Saturday, August 20 from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. Also, a memorial service will be held at the Rockingham United Church in late October.
