Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Centre on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer, Mrs. Geraldine McPhail, age 69 years. She was predeceased by her parents Eric and Rita Gulliford. Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her husband Don of 47 years; children Nancy (Bob), Mark (Jody); grandson Jacob; brothers Eric (Margaret), Christopher, Gerald (Samantha); sisters Carol Ann (Warren Keats), Judy (Daryl Green); sisters-in-law Dawn (Michael Hemsworth, June (Earl Murphy) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte on Saturday, July 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will take place from St. Matthews United Church, Lewisporte on Sunday, July 31st at 2 PM. Interment will follow from the United Church Cemetery. Geraldine was a wonderful, devoted wife and mother. Her kindness and caring for all her family members was exemplary and she lived by the motto, "Others First." Her devotion touched all members of her family, and they were truly blessed. She was a fantastic teacher, having a tremendous impact on her students. Geraldine was very talented and loved playing the piano both by ear and note, and also played the organ in church for a number of years. She also made time for community affairs, being a leader for brownies, on the board for figure skating, teaching Sunday school and countless school activities. Her culinary skills were unsurpassed, and countless major dinners were served to her family and friends. A truly remarkable woman who lived a life of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew's United Church, Lewisporte or the Heritage United Church, Musgravetown. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte.
