REECE, Ivor Benjamin – age 88, of Kingston, NS passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Wales, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Gladys (Brealey) Reece. Ivor worked with Nova Scotia Light and Power and later with Halifax Transit until 1974. At that time, he and Millie bought a dairy farm in Torbrook, Annapolis County, NS, which was always his life-long dream. Ivor was a member of the Valley Men’s Choir, Seventh Day Adventist Church and was with the Nictaux Baptist Church Choir for 20 years. After farming, he was very proud to work as a volunteer for Citizen’s Patrol in Kingston and as a guard at the Kingston Detachment of the RCMP. Ivor loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, the former Mildred “Millie” Atwood; his children, Wayne (LeeAnne) Reece, Cambridge, ON; Wendy (Blake) Wile, Yellowknife, NT; Wanda (Ivan) Crabbe, Grande Prairie, AB; Kevin (Sara) Reece, Calgary, AB; Robert Reece, Cambridge, ON; his grandchildren, Cayley, Robyn, Brady, Griffin, Mikelle, Alison, Jana, Jenny, Karly, Tyler, Mitchell, Tanner, and 9 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Patricia. In keeping with Ivor’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 65 Victoria Road, Middleton with Pastor David Crook officiating. A reception followed the service.
