Josephine (Hotzak) Zomcheck
In loving memory of Josephine Zomcheck, age 100 years, who passed away peacefully on August 16, 2016 at Oliver Lodge Special Care Home, Saskatoon, with her daughter at her side. Josephine was born near Hafford, Saskatchewan on March 5, 1916 to parents Minnie (Boyko) and Adam Hotzak. In July 1936 she married Tom Zomcheck at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert and together they farmed in the Strong Pine district, 25 miles northeast of Prince Albert for over sixty years. She was an avid gardener, talented cook, accomplished seamstress and enjoyed many creative hobbies. Josephine is survived by her daughter Gladys (Larry) Neely of Saskatoon, her niece Josey (John) Ratusney and family of Ontario, nephew Ted Hotzak and family of British Columbia, half-sisters Helen Thorpe and Alice Thorpe and families of Prince Albert, plus many cousins and friends. Josephine was predeceased by her husband Tom in 2005, her mother Minnie (Boyko) Hotzak in 1923, her father Adam Hotzak in 1948, her half-brother Anthony Hotzak in 1956, her half-brother Zane Hotzak in 1988, her brother Tom Hotzak in 1996 and her sister-in-law Olga Hotzak in 2014. After several strokes in 2011, Josephine has been living at Oliver Lodge Special Care Home in Saskatoon. Josephine's family wish to thank all those involved with her care, including doctors, nurses, caregivers and all the staff at Oliver Lodge for their love and kindness and help. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 1p.m. at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 - 28th Street West, Prince Albert with Father Michael Fahlman officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at the Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. If friends desire, donations may be made to Oliver Lodge Special Care Home, 1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 3R5, or a charity of your choice. In charge of funeral arrangements: David Polzen of Mourning Glory Funeral Chapel, Saskatoon and Drew Gray of Gray's Funeral Chapel, Prince Albert.
