Nancy Leigh Chittick - 47, of Coldbrook, Kings County, passed away suddenly Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of Cyril and Penny (Lindsay) White. She was an avid photographer and enjoyed capturing scenes of her family, nature, especially early morning sunrises, and Landmark East School events. She was a loving wife, mother, and daughter. Nancy graduated from Kings County Academy (up on the hill) and from Nova Scotia Community College Kentville with a Funeral Directors and Embalmers License. She was a graduate of the first funeral services course. Following graduation she worked in the family funeral service until becoming a full time mother. She developed a passion for boxing and initiated a boxing club in Berwick where she was inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame for her guidance, leadership and training abilities. In 2010, she lost the lower portion of her left leg to illness but persevered and moved on. The Halifax Herald published an article on her entitled “One Tough Cookie”, describing her attitude of persistence and not giving up. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Robert “Bob”; two sons, Zachery and Kieran; her parents; two brothers, Jeffrey (Deanna), Porters Lake; Gregory, Kentville; two nieces, Emma and Laura; four nephews, Connor, Cameron, RJ and Spencer; mother and father in law, Dick and Margaret Chittick, Dartmouth; brother in law, Jeffrey Chittick (Ray), Dartmouth. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 in the Kentville Baptist Church. Reverend John McNally and Reverend David Bielby officiated. Private family interment in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. A reception followed in the CE Centre of the Kentville Baptist Church. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Landmark East School (a school for children with learning differences) Capital Campaign Fund.
