Troy William (World War II Veteran) Gee

Age 95 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown. Born in Upper Wicklow, N.B. on June 26, 1921, he was the son of the late Purl and Mildred (Lunn) Gee. A Veteran of WW II, Troy and his beloved wife Freda (deceased 2010) raised their family of three boys in Saint John, N.B. and later in Charlottetown. He worked for the SMT Bus Company and London Life in Saint John and later with Co-op Insurance in Charlottetown. He achieved his Fellowship Designation in Insurance while working for Co-op Insurance and worked on a number of provincially appointed committees regulating insurance providers on the Island. He was active with the Boy Scout Movement and an active member of Park Royal United Church, where he participated in the Men’s Choir. He was also a member of the Masons, Victoria Lodge No. 2 and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. One of his favorite pastimes was camping, he and Freda spent most summers in their RV and for many winters enjoyed the sun in Florida, always with a faithful dog along. Troy is survived by his sons Derek (Suzanne), Brian (Linda) and Terry (Debbie). Grandfather of Aaron, Amanda and Erica Gee, Jason and Brodie Gee, Stephanie Chaloner, Megan and Rebecca Gee and great-grandfather of nine. Also surviving are his sister Helen Dowling, Alberta, brother Purl (Beverley), Ontario, sisters-in-law Lenora (Dave) McGill, Marilyn Gee and nieces and nephews. Troy was predeceased by Irene, Evelyn, Jack and Thomas Rankine as well as five infant siblings (Ida, Fern, Malcolm and Twins). Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation Friday 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Park Royal United Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Troy’s memory may be made to the PEI Humane Society. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at Belvedere Funeral Home, 175 Belvedere Avenue, Charlottetown on Friday at 8 p.m. under the direction of Victoria Lodge No. 2.
