Keith McAloney, 68, of Amherst, passed peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Moncton Hospital in the embrace of his wife of 27 years Sandy McAloney.
Born and raised in River Hebert, NS, he was the son of Helen (Landells) McAloney and the late Howard McAloney.
He was an avid hunter, a lover of animals, a 4-H Leader, and promoter of Nature and Wetland conservation. You could always find Keith in the barn surrounded by his animals with coffee in hand. After graduating with his Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Wildlife Biology, he went on to work with Ducks Unlimited and Canadian Wildlife Service for over 40 years.
Keith will be dearly missed by his wife Sandy, his children Andrea (Greg) Atwell, Brent (Chantel) Ives, and Kaite McAloney; his mother Helen McAloney; grandchildren Brendan, Jordan, Grace and Taylor; brother Tom (Brenda); Uncle Bill McAloney; Aunt Edith Sharon (Arnold) Raymond, Uncle Harold (Barb) McAloney and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Howard and sister Lynn McAloney.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where an Afternoon of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm with special memories shared at 3 pm. Burial will take place in the Lower Maccan Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in memory of Keith may be made to Ducks Unlimited Canada or Cumberland County 4-H.
