Calvin James "Sonny" Nowe

Nowe, Calvin James “Sonny”– Jan 8, 1938 – Oct 20, 2016
Calvin passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Magnolia in Enfield, Thursday Oct 20, 2016. Born in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia to the late Calvin and Theresa (Hyson) Nowe. Calvin was extremely proud of serving in the military, peace keeping in Germany in the late 50’s. He had many fond memories and stories from that time. He spent his early years driving trucks, owning his own trucking company as well as being a snow plow operator for the Department of Highways. Later he owned and operated Milford Equipment Limited Muffler and Repair Shop. The world has lost one of its all time best practical jokers while at the same time one of its worst joke tellers! The only thing he liked better than pulling a prank on someone was telling about it for years afterwards. Somehow he told those stories with so much enthusiasm they never got tired. Calvin’s generosity was amazing if not unbelievable at times! What he gave away to “people who needed it more” was simply astounding. The only awareness of his kindness would be the beneficiary and his inner family circle. Calvin loved hockey, fishing, music, animals, picking mushrooms, sweets (chocolate for sure) and he was meticulous about his attire. But what he loved most was vehicles. Although never licensed, he was a super mechanic. And up until his last few years he loved to roll up his sleeves and go to work fixing someone’s problem. Of course he would be having a great ole conversation with himself the entire time. Besides his parents, Calvin was predeceased by his sisters, Lillian Spencer and Peggy J. Watson. Calvin is survived by his children, Kendall Nowe (Cindy), Crystal Nowe (Gordie Sherman), Angela Nowe (Sayed Mirbod); grandchildren, Briana, Erin, Courtney, Nicholas, Keisha, Alleah and Jann, and brother-in-law Alan Spencer. Special thanks to the staff of Oakwood Terrace and Magnolia for the special care and friendship provided for dad over the past several years! A Celebration of Life will be held in the Milford Recreation Hall Sunday, Oct 23rd at 3pm. In lieu of donations please make a gift, big or small, to “someone who needs it more”!! Condolences, words of comfort and memories of Calvin may be shared with the family at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
