Deborah "Debbie" Irene Scott

Scott, Deborah “Debbie” Irene – Bible Hill
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Debbie, age 59, on Oct. 20, 2016 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro, Nova Scotia. Born March 26, 1957 she was the daughter of the late Lee and Doris MacDonald.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Derrick as well as her daughters, Laura and Jessica, all of whom were the loves of her life. She will also be missed dearly by her brother-in law David, best friend Diane and by her fur babies Cash and Sid.
Debbie fought a long and courageous battle over almost ten years. She had a will to live and a spirit that will live on forever. She was a gentle soul who enjoyed a cup of tea and a good visit.
Debbie wore many hats from helping people put soles on their feet, to having a green thumb and ending with using her compassion and experience at the Doctor’s office, but no job was more important to her than the one raising her children.
Debbie’s family was the light of her life and spending time together, whether at a festival, on vacation or just playing cards down on 49 Avon Street will be cherished forever. Debbie also loved spending time with her family, friends and neighbours at Brule Shore. From walking on the beach, collecting glass or enjoying a cold one with everyone, there is no where she loved to be more. Be sure that on the first ‘pour at four’ at Brule Shore Estates next year, Debbie will be there in spirit.
Debbie was predeceased by her parents and sister, Marie Algee of Halifax. She is survived by her sisters Judy (Harold) Ferguson, Leona (Earl) Harvey, Diane (Roger) Franceour, Pat (Gary) McCabe, Joan (George) Kirk, and brother Donnie (Lois) MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.
Many thanks are extended to the numerous helpful and caring people who aided in supporting Debbie along her journey. A special thanks goes to Dr. Bruce Phillips and Dr. Rod McKenney. It was Debbie’s wish to donate her body to Dalhousie University for medical research. If desired, donations may be made to Charlie’s Ride for Cancer Research at www.dmrf.ca or to a charity of choice. Starting at 6pm a Celebration of Life will take place at the Colchester Community Funeral Home on Monday the 24th, with a special tribute done by Diane Walker at 7:30pm. Those who wish to continue sharing stories and memories are invited to meet at The Nook & Cranny afterwards. On-line condolences may be made at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
