Ivan Cock

Ivan Grant Cock, 62 of Lyons Brook, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital with his family at his side and his son in his heart.
Ivan was born in Truro on March 3, 1954, a son of the late Arnold and Lola (Thompson) Cock of Durham.
In his early working years, Ivan was employed at Michelin Tire and N.S.P.C. He returned to his farming roots first at his own farm in Green Hill and later with his brother on Cinnabar Farm in Plainfield. In 1998, he purchased D.& G. Construction in Sylvester, being well known for the manufacturing of roof trusses.
He enjoyed three wheeling, ATV’s and racing, going to his camp, and snowmobiling in the winter with his buddies, especially with his son-in-law, Matthew. Golfing took over as his preferred summer sport. Other interests included boating, his 1974 Cuda, and his family gatherings at Pebble Beach.
Ivan was well known for telling jokes and was a caring person who was always willing to help out anyone in need. He had a love for life with his family always being most important, especially times spent with his grand-daughters.
Married for 41 years, he will be dearly missed by his wife Karen (Bonvie); daughter Janette MacDonald (Matthew), Lyons Brook; son Christopher, Waterville; grand-daughters Brielle and Kaitlyn, sisters Carol MacKay (Peter), Braeshore; Norma MacCara (Ian), Plainfield; Betty Burns (Jim), Durham; Janice Millen (Ivan), Durham; Janet Matheson (Sam), Westville; and brothers Bobby (Donna), Durham; Floyd (Cherie), Plainfield; Wayne (Kathy), Tony River and Brian (Marguerite), Loch Broom. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Bonvie, Riverton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bev Ross (John), Riverton; Owen Bonvie (Barb), Almonte, Ont.; Donna Mitchell (Wintford), Riverton; Keith Bonvie (Delores), Musquodoboit Harbour; Susan Haslam (David), Westville; Kevin Bonvie (Darlene), Elgin Road; Annette Baillie (David), Lantz; Greg Bonvie (Dolena), Trenton; Rhonda Green (Bradley), Lyons Brook; Troy Bonvie (Krista), Eureka; and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Arnold “Junior” Cock and father in law Bernard Bonvie.
His family will receive visitors on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 o’clock from Scotsburn United Church with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or Apple Tree Foundation.
