Passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016, at Carbonear General Hospital, Michael "Mick" Patrick Joy of Conception Harbour - Age 80 years. Predeceased by his parents: John and Stella Joy; his parents-in-law: James and Mary Ann Keating; his brothers: Albert and Joseph, and members of the Joy and Keating family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Carmel (nee Keating); his sons: John, Ron (Linda), Joe (Cheryl), Ken (Jean), and Mike (Maria); his daughters: Christine (Kevin Lewis), Martina, Brenda (Norman Kennedy), and Jackie (Shawn Hughes); his 20 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his siblings: Marion (Joe Myers), Lil (Don O'Leary), Clarence (Pat), Fred (Mary), and Darlene Dillon (Joe Flaherty); sister-in-law Ann Joy. He also leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends. Mick was born on August 31st, 1936, in Harbour Main, and raised his wonderful family in Conception Harbour. The doors were always open and he was welcoming to everyone. His heart was so big, his voice so quiet, and those eyes so blue; we will miss him dearly. We wish to express a sincere thank you to the Emergency Room Staff at Carbonear General Hospital for all their assistance during this very difficult time for our family. Resting at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, with visitation on Monday, October 24th from 10am-9pm and Tuesday, October 25th from 10am-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Conception Harbour, on Wednesday, October 26th, 2016, at 10:30am. Interment to follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Conception Harbour. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation in Mick's memory can be made to St. Anne's Parish Memorial Fund.
