It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, Sarah Margaret Pike. With her family by her side, Sarah passed away at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital's Palliative Care Unit on October 22, 2016, at the age of 73. Predeceased by her parents Lucy and Raymond Pike. Sarah will be greatly missed by her Partner Bill Pilgrim, three sons Raymond Laite in Calgary Alberta, Robert Laite in Stephenville, David (Donna) Laite in Trenton Ontario, her daughter Heather (Scott) Laite Bennett in Kippens, her five grandchildren Sarah Bennett, Matthew Bennett, Logan Laite, Kallista Laite and Isaac Laite. Also leaving to mourn are her three brothers Raymond (Eleanor) Pike, Harold (Margaret) Pike, Abe (Pam) Pike, her eight sisters Mabel (Cornelius) Harnett, Grace Crane, Bess (Edward) King, Meta (Brendan) Corrigan, Evelyn (Elmo) Pike, Joyce (Rueben) Green, June Pike, Sharon Pike and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support from their neighbors, extended family and friends. A special thank you to the home caregivers from Compassion Care, and nurses from Community Health, who cared for Sarah over the past few years. It was because of your unconditional care and attention that she was able to remain in her home the last few years of her life. A special thanks as well to all the nursing and support staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital who were so attentive to mom and the family over her last few months of life. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel. Visitation will take place on Tuesday October 25th from 2-4 and 7-9 at Russell's Funeral Home in Stephenville from where the funeral will take place on Wednesday October 26th at 10:30 a.m. with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway. As expressions of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Bay St. George Sick Children's Foundation in Sarah's memory.
