Age 91 Years. With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of a gentle, kind and loving soul, Eric Alan Ruby, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents Alan and Janet (Pearce); Sisters: Grace Vivian, Pearl Ruby and Isabelle Kennedy; and Brother Cyril. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 61 years, Audrey (Boyles); cherished daughter Wendy Ruby; treasured son Roger (Tara) and adored grandsons, Cody and Eric. Missed by his twin brother, Leonard (Lena); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; special friends Barbara Gromick, Dan Murphy and his best buddy Boots (his cat). The farming community of Newfoundland and Labrador are also grieving Eric's loss as he, along with his brothers Cyril and Leonard, were intricate members contributing to the success of his families award winning Century Farm, Westvale Farms (Dairy) located on Ruby Line, Kilbride, NL. Special thanks and gratitude to the staff and residents of Ruby Manor; which holds tremendous pride as this retirement home was named in his honor a decade ago and is located on his farmland. As well, the respect, compassion and care provided by the team at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, 4th floor West, will always be remembered. Darren Clarke, your nursing skills and kindness helped saying good bye a little easier, Thank You. Reverend Sandra Tilley and Father Tony Bidgood, we were all blessed to have you say final prayers at the hospital, Thank You. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mt. Pearl on Tuesday from 7p.m. - 9p.m. on Wednesday from 12 noon - 5p.m. and 7p.m. - 9p.m., Funeral service to take place from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Goulds at 2PM on Thursday October 27th, 2016. Interment to follow at St. Matthews Anglican Cemetery (Ruby Church). In lieu of flowers, at Eric's request, donations can be made in his memory to the NL Down Syndrome Society or St. Paul's Anglican Church (Goulds, NL) or the SPCA.
