Nathan Andrew MacDonald

MacDonald, Nathan Andrew, Truro, NS - It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Nathan at the age of 28 on October 24, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Nathan was always cheerful and loved to tease others to get a laugh. Even though he struggled all his life with kidney disease, he did not like to burden others with his troubles and tried to be as normal as he could be. “I’m good” was often his reply to any offer of help or assistance. We all had the honor of watching him grow into a fine, gentle, loving and kind young man.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing, his mother Ruth (McCabe) MacDonald of Truro, with whom he held a special bond; his father Blaise MacDonald of Truro; sister Christina MacDonald (Julien Wickstrom) Ottawa; maternal grandparents Gordon and Elizabeth McCabe of Truro; paternal grandmother Christina MacDonald (Linwood); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be greatly missed by his bed buddies Quinn, Flynn, Sammie.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Robert MacDonald (Linwood); uncle Kenny of Truro; aunt Sharon of Truro.
We wish to thank all the doctors, nurses, and all those who were involved in his care over the past 28 plus years. Thank you for the time you gave us to enjoy his growth and company and allowing us that time with him.
Nathan’s dream was that a cure for kidney disease would be found, so to aid in this goal, Nathan has donated his body to Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where a celebration of Nathan’s life will take place on Friday, Oct. 28th from 2-4 pm. Family flowers only. Donations in Nathan’s memory may be made to the SPCA, the Children’s Wish Foundation or to a charity of choice. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Nathan’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send a Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
