Anne Olynek

Date de décès : 3 juillet 2014

Anne Olynek passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side on July 3, 2014. Anne was born in the rural district of St. Julien, SK on April 13, 1919. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children Dennis, Ray (Pat) and Priscilla (James Wenzel); grandchildren Kim (Keith Blair), Sharon (Brad) Warn, Lee (Jackie), Scott and Jeffrey; great-grandchildren Ariana, Josh, Kolten and Meghan; sister Dorothy Bokshowan, brother Julius, sister-in-law Nettie Trischuk, daughters-in-law Marilyn and Dorothy Olynek.
Anne was pre-deceased by her husband Alex; children Joan (Pat McKee), Stan, Victor (Lois Newcombe); parents Michael and Maria (Chomyn) Trischuk; siblings William (Nellie) (Bessie), Nellie (Bill Michayluk), Nick (Anne), Olga (Dmytro Kindrachuk), Emily (John Tabasniuk), John; brother-in-law Slawko Bokshowan, sisters-in-law Helen (Bunko)Trischuk and Ann (Fediash)Trischuk.
As the middle of 9 children growing up on a farm she learned about hard work at an early age, helping out with any jobs that needed to be done. This included cleaning grain for seed in the spring, plowing and harrowing the fields, helping the threshing crew, and even working with her dad to build a fence.
As the children grew up and began to leave the farm, Emily introduced Anne to a charming widower, Alex Olynek. On August 6, 1944 they were married and she moved to Moose Jaw to take on the role of wife and mother to his 3 young children. Later they had 3 children as well to add to their family - Dennis, Ray and Priscilla. The work ethics she had on the farm stayed with her and served her well as a homemaker and mother. Alex and Anne were both founding members of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Moose Jaw in 1956. They worked tirelessly on the construction and decorating of the church. Anne was a member of St. Olha's Branch of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada since its inception in 1961. She sat on the Executive as President, Treasurer and Secretary as well as being an active member on various committees. Recently she was acknowledged for her 50 years of membership in UWAC.
After Alex passed away in 1979, Anne moved to Saskatoon to be near her family. Sunday dinner with the children, nightly phone calls with her sisters, Trischuk family reunions or any time spent with her family was what made her happiest. She was such a sweet, gentle person with a good sense of humor that it was always a pleasure to be with her. In recent years Anne would often tell her children that she wasn't ready to die yet because "I'd miss my children. I love them all". Well Mom, we'll miss you too. More than you know.
The family would like to thank Dr. B. Larson for caring for Anne over the years and especially during her final days. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. The Prayer Vigil will take place on Sunday evening, July 13, 2014 at 7:00 pm and the Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00 am. Both services will take place at Saskatoon Funeral Home. (4th Ave and 25th St.)Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery prior to a reception at the Edwards Family Centre.
