Theresa Inez MacGillivray

MACGILLIVRAY, THERESA INEZ - Our loving mother, Theresa Inez MacGillivray (nee Coughlan), passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2014, at Rocmaura Nursing Home, in her 91st year. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Philip MacGillivray. Born in Saint John on October 8th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Mary (McCarthy) Coughlan and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Inez was a graduate of Saint Vincent's High School in 1941. Graduating from Modern Business College, she worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia on Charlotte Street. After raising her six children, Inez returned to work as a secretary at St. Peter’s Elementary and Centennial School for several years. Inez was a woman of great faith. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joachim’s Parish, where she was a 50 year member of the Catholic Women's League, and a former member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She served as a volunteer at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Her life was one of devotion … to her faith, to others, and especially to her husband, her children and lifelong friends. Inez was a charter member of the Wednesday Night Bridge Club for 67 years. Inez and Phil were blessed with over forty beautiful summers spent with their family at their camp in Cambridge-Narrows. They also enjoyed nineteen happy winters in Alva, Florida.
