Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, November 23, 2014 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Sheila Moriarty Dunphy, age 66 years. Sheila truly loved life and treasured every day and all it had to offer. Sheila possessed a gentle, quiet demeanor; but her sincerity, humility and kind heart were always felt by those in her presence. Family, above all, was her life. She is predeceased by her parents: Leo and Margaret Moriarty; parents-in-law: Jack and Mary Dunphy; first husband: Michael O'Brien; sisters: Ann, Elizabeth and infant sister; brother: Paul; brother-in-law: Byron Dawe and sister-in-law: Maureen Dunphy. Leaving to honour and cherish her memory, her husband: John; daughters: Sarah (Steven Martin), St. John's and Maura (Adam) Green, Calgary, AB; sisters: Margaret Dawe, St. John's, Marian (Ivan) Penney, Harbour Grace and Joan (Leland) Mercer, St. John's; brothers: Leo Moriarty, Ferryland and Peter (Gladys) Moriarty, Harbour Grace; brothers-in-law: Brian Dunphy, St. John's, Tom (Jeanne) Dunphy, Fredericton, NB and Daniel (Brenda) Dunphy, Carbonear; sister-in-law: Eileen Dunphy, St. John's; special niece: Melanie Dunphy, Cochrane, AB; also a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Monday, Nov. 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Wednesday, November 26 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. At Sheila's request, cremation will follow. A private family inurnment to be held at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace at a later date.
