PARRSBORO – Aileen D. Wiita, 94, of Parrsboro passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Centennial Villa, Amherst with her daughter, Wendy by her side.
Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Maxwell and Elsie (Hatfield) Clarke.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Aileen worked for General Electric in Barrie, Ontario for many years.
Upon her retirement, she enjoyed entertaining, and was an avid traveler.
She is survived by a daughter, Wendy Roberts, Parrsboro; grandchildren, Sherry Roberts, Truro; Pat Welton, New Prospect; Barb Tennant, Parrsboro; Ronnie Roberts, Moose River; great grandchildren, Chris Harrison; Jeffery Roberts; Cody, Luke and Ethan Welton; Tylor and Madison Tennant; Ally Roberts; great-great-grandchildren, Chase and Sadie Harrison; Michaela Roberts; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Hurrie in 1944; her second husband, Henry Wiita in 2003; sisters, Mary Guthreau, Nellie Snowden; brothers, Edson and John; grandson, Michael.
Visitation took place on Thursday [December 18, 2014] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Friday [December 19, 2014] at St. George’s Anglican Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
