F.S. Goodine

GOODINE. DR. F.S.
It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Frederick Sterling Goodine announces his passing. A long-time resident of Woodstock, Dr. Goodine passed away at his home, surrounded by family on May 5th, 2015.

Born on April 14th, 1933 in Morrell Siding, New Brunswick, Dr. Goodine was an alumnus of Saint Francis Xavier University and Dalhousie University. He established his family practice in Woodstock in 1959, and he enjoyed all aspects of family medicine, including spending time with patients and colleagues alike. During his long and distinguished career, Dr. Goodine was instrumental in the implementation of programs such as Medicare and ExtraMural Hospital, as well as a pioneer for medical education in New Brunswick.

Although he formally closed his practice at the age of 75, he continued to see many patients in the office setting and at Carleton Manor, as well as making regular house-calls, until the age of 80.

He and his wife, Lois, enjoyed traveling, and he was particularly fond of spending time with friends on the white sand beaches of Siesta Key, Florida and the beautiful shores of the Miramichi River in New Brunswick. He was a devout member of Saint Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Above all, he was most happy spending time at home with his family and took particular delight in his grandchildren.

Dr. Goodine was predeceased by his parents, William and Laura, brother Winston and sister Juanita. He is survived by his wife Lois and sons Rick (Nicole), Bill (Rose Anne) and Jonathan (Sherry), as well as his siblings Carvell Goodine, Lois Griffiths, Bonnie DiQuinzio (Tony), Glenda Murphy (Tom), Merlyn Goodine (Rita), Dalton Goodine (Dawn), and grandchildren Jason, Bill (Caroline), Katie (Nathan), James, Natalie, Sully, Sam and Oliver.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock with visitation on Friday from 1pm to 3:30pm and 6pm to 8 pm.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11 am from St Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Father John Keoughan officiating with interment in the Calvary Cemetery.

If desired donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Carleton Manor Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice. www.scottfh.com
