It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Roy Lahey, 71, on Friday, May 22, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital,Sydney with his family by his side.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the the late Phillip and Catherine (Perry) Lahey.
He was a fisherman by trade.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (MacMaster) Lahey; their children, Allan (Sondra) Lahey, Victoria Mines, Rhonda (Matthew) Meserve, Wakefield, N.H., Ashley Lahey, Main-a-Dieu; his wonderful grandchildren, Kayla, Cody, Jessica, Liam, Kara, Meagan, Lindsay and Caleigh. He is also survived by his sisters, Cissy (Mike), Doris, June (Pius), Beatrice, Lucy (John), Edith (Harvey), Patricia (George), Ruby (Bruce); brothers, Wayne (Janice), Wallace (Frances), Donald (Janet), Morley (Helen), Clem (Georgina) and Bomber (Dawn); his sister-in-law, Dawn Jane; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis; brothers, Daniel Joseph in infancy, Stanley and Cyril, brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Piearce.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015, from 1-3 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Main-a-Dieu with a celebration of life to follow at 3 p.m. with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the palliative care unit, CBRH or a charity of choice.
