EVELYN J. PHILLIPS
June 23rd, 1930 - July 31st, 2015
It is with sadness that the extended family of Evelyn Josephine Phillips announce her peaceful passing on Friday, July 31st, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Agnes (Wren) Phillips; two brothers, Clare and Dave; her sister, Audrey Robinson; niece, Monnie Rudd; and great-niece, Sandi Rudd. Evelyn was a single lady all her life but her nieces and nephews and their families were a delight to her. She is fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, Louise Phillips; and nieces and nephews: Heather (Joe) Schemenauer, Jim Rudd, Sherrie (Gord) Pohl, Cam (Delphine) Robinson; Craig (Rose) Phillips, Bob (Sharon) Phillips, Janice (Gary) Gee, and their families. Evelyn was born at Tugaske, SK on June 23rd, 1930. During her teenage years the family moved to several locations in Saskatchewan as her father managed lumberyards. They returned to Tugaske in 1945 and Evelyn was one of the star pitchers for the ladies softball team. Once Evelyn completed her grade twelve, she moved to Moose Jaw. In March 1952, she joined the RCAF for approximately 3 years and then was employed as an accounting clerk at CFB Moose Jaw until her retirement in 1985. Evelyn lived a quiet life but her greatest passion was shopping. She LOVED to shop for clothes and she had an extensive wardrobe to show for it! Auntie was also very generous to her nieces and nephews. Evelyn had never been hospitalized overnight until she was 81 years of age. There have been many medical challenges the past four years and the family would like to thank her caring companions, Tracy and Brenda, for providing her with many comforts. A Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2015 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Victoria Towers, 123 Fairford St E, Moose Jaw, SK. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Evelyn’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
