It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, William Daniel 'Bunny' Perry, age 72, on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 at his residence.
Born in North Sydney, April 23, 1943, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Quirk) Perry. Bunny served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in his earlier years, he later worked at the Sydney Steel Plant, Bens Bakery and then with the Corps of Commissionaires at the Marine Atlantic Terminal until his retirement. Bunny was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #19, and was a Past Grand Knight of Father William Kiely Council, Knights of Columbus #5109. He was a well known bingo caller at the Sealanes Center and later the KOC hall. Bunny was an avid bowler, he enjoyed playing darts and he loved animals.
Bunny is survived by his wife Patricia 'Sally' (Holland); his daughters, Cynthia (Hughie) Drake and Debbie (Paul) Rogers, both of North Sydney; grandchildren, Terilyn, Lindsey, Travis and Adam; a great-grandson, Christopher; his sisters, Sue (George) Lewis, North Sydney, Madelene (John) Brewer, Howie Center, Myrna (Colin) Boutilier, Sydney Mines; his brothers, David Perry, Saskatchewan, and Robert (Colleen) Perry, Russell, Manitoba, also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bunny was predeceased by a sister, Gladys and two brothers, Michael and George in infancy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Poulos for his excellent care and support for Bunny during the past number of years, also thanks to the first responders who came to our home the day of his sudden passing.
Visitation for Bunny will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating.
Family flowers only, donations in Bunny’s memory may be made to the I.W.K. Children’s Hospital or the S.P.C.A.
