Mary Turner, age 90, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Northwood Centre, Halifax, on Oct. 6, 2015.
Born March 16, 1925 in South Harbour, she was the daughter of the late William Dan and Harriet Dixon.
She is survived by her children: Anne Rambeau of Smelt Brook, Linda Conrad (Iver) of Shubenacadie, Tom (Linda) of Milford, Barb Leslie (Albion) of Grand Manan, Bryston of Dartmouth, Shirley (Robert) Clark, Lower Sackville, and Carvell of Grand Manan, 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband, Walter; sisters, Willena and Delphina; brother, John David; grandson, Christopher; son-in-law, Joseph; and niece, Isabelle.
Mary was a stay-at-home mom who took great pride and pleasure in her family and caring for them. Her passion for quilting left her children with beautiful souvenirs of her handiwork. During her three years at Northwood she made many new friends among the staff and residents.
A very special thank you to the staff of 2C Spruce Lake for their exceptional care of our mom and also to mom’s special friend Fern, who lovingly sat with her and took her to events when we, her family, were unable to.
Visitation will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, from 6-8 p.m., with prayers at 7 p.m. Interment will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, when both Mary and her husband of 65 years, Walter, will be laid to rest.
