Jack volunteered for service in November 1941, serving with the Carleton and York Regiment in Italy. VanWart & Son in Phoenix Square, opposite City Hall. He was a modest man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, reading and listening to his music collection. Jack served as the Treasurer of St. Paul’s United Church for 26 years, counting the collection every Sunday and in later years, Secretary-Treasurer of the Carleton & York Regiment reunions.
He enjoyed researching his United Empire Loyalist ancestry, visiting graveyards in New Brunswick and New England. He shared a passion for jogging with his wife Anna, participated in numerous Labatt 24 Hour Relays and spent most noon hours jogging at the YMCA. He enjoyed the family camp on McLaren’s Beach in Saint John where he enjoyed growing a large garden every year.
Jack’s family would like to thank their sister, Janice for taking such good care of Jack and Anna over the years as well as the staff of Orchard View, who have become like family, for their loving care and kindness.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Friday, February 12th, 2016 from 12 to 1 pm, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. Rev. Richard Bowley will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
