With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elizabeth Bowering (née Noseworthy) on November 28, 2016. Elizabeth passed away following a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), at the age of 62. Elizabeth was born in St. John's in 1954, and moved to Edmonton in 1977. She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband of 40 years, Keith, children Jennifer (Kenton) and Grant, grandchildren Malcolm and Coralie, brothers Leslie, Tom, and Andrew, and sister Jean. She was predeceased by her parents Fraser and Nellie. Elizabeth was an avid contributor to Edmonton's arts community. She wrote and performed in numerous Edmonton Fringe plays. An accomplished visual artist, she co-ordinated Walterdale Theatre's Art in the Lobby for many years. In 2013 she was presented with the Jack Wilson Award for outstanding lifetime contribution to the Walterdale Theatre. MSA is a rare degenerative neurological disorder for which there is no cure. In the last years of her life, Elizabeth used her gifts as a playwright to raise awareness and funding for MSA research. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to support the Dr. Janis Miyasaki Research Program in Movement Disorders at the University of Alberta Hospital, c/o the University Hospital Foundation, 1H1.91 WMC 8440 112 St. NW, Edmonton, AB T6B 2B7. A private celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held in Edmonton at a later date.
