HOWE, A. PRESTON The passing of Arnold Preston Howe, a resident of the Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton and formerly of Nashwaak Bridge, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Friday, April 11, 2008. He was 89. Born at Taymouth, NB, on August 22, 1918, he was the son of the late William and Hazel (McFadzen) Howe. His parents, wife Edna P. (Hicks) Howe; daughter, Ivean Wilson, son Ivan Howe; brother, Earl Howe; and sister, Amelia B. Meade all predeceased him. Preston was affiliated with the Taymouth United Church of Canada and was a veteran of WWII serving overseas with the 2nd Battalion N.S. Highlanders. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Nashwaak Bridge Branch No. 80. Preston was a retired mechanic and was a heavy equipment operator with the NB Department of Transportation. Surviving are his six children, Hazel MacIntyre, Joan Keswick (Wayne), Carole Watts, Yvonne Westall (Donny), David Howe, all of Fredericton and Arnold Howe of Nashwaak Bridge; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Howe (Eva) of Fredericton; a sister, Greta Parker of Nashwaak Bridge; a sister-in-law, Doris Howe of Burton; nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 woodstock Road, Fredericton, from where the funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Interment in the Taymouth Cemetery at a later date. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Monday, April 14, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
