RUSSELL NEIL SUTHERLAND

SUTHERLAND, RUSSELL NEIL - Russell Sutherland, of West Quaco, NB, with his loving partner by his side, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, March 4th, 2009. Born in Butternut Ridge, NB in 1926, he was the son of the late William and Ethel (O'Neal) Sutherland. Russell was a faithful member of St. Martins Baptist Church, St. Martins Seniors and the Provincial and Federal Conservative Party. He is survived by his special lady, friend and caregiver of 16 years, Beverly Loughery-Smith of West Quaco, and her family whom he considered his own: Carmen Gallagher (Michael), Gondola Point, Gail Lynch (Shawn), Crossfield, AB, Troy Loughery (Lisa), Quispamsis and their three children, Andrew, Alex and Colin; as well as, his daughter, Beverly Steeves (the late Burke), Saint John; granddaughter, Krista Longo (Stuart), Quispamsis; grandson, Jason Steeves (Melody), Saint John; great grandchildren, Rodney, Brittney, Emma and Thomas; six sisters, Winnifred Coates, Moncton, Edna MacLennan, Lower Sackville, NS, Margaret Sutherland, Sue Scott and Glenna Sutherland, all of Upper Coverdale, NB and Gwen Church (James), Fredericton; two brothers, George Sutherland (Shirley), Dover, NB and Harold Sutherland (Ruth), Cumberland Center, ME. Besides his parents, Russell was also predeceased by his first wife, Kathleen Steeves, granddaughter, Rebecca Loughery, sisters, Marjorie Sutherland and Betty Berry; as well as, brothers, Lorne and Thomas Sutherland. Resting at St. Martins Baptist Church, 211 Main Street, with visitation on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7th, 2009, at St. Martins Baptist Church, at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Dover Baptist Cemetery, Memramcook, NB, at a later date.
