HAUG – Arne Hilmar was born in Drangedal Telemark Norway on August 14, 1915. He passed away at the Victoria Union Hospital on February 27, 2010 at the age of 94 years. Arne immigrated with his parents Halvor and Anna, four brothers, George, Hilmar, Harry and Gudmun and sister Marie to Canada in March 1930 and arrived in Halifax on April 5, 1930. They settled in the Hagen district. Arne married Mildred Grambo on October 26, 1947. He took over the family farm in 1949. Arne and Mildred had one son Allan. Arne was a hard worker whose main professions were farming and driving school bus. His work ethic was orderly and immaculate. Allan took over the family farm in 1979 and Arne and Mildred moved to Birch Hills. He made on trip back to Norway. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, camping and helping Allan on the farm. In March 2008, Arne became a resident at Bev’s Care Home in Kinistino. Thanks to Bev and her staff for the wonderful care given to Arne while he stayed at your care home! He truly cared for his family. Blessed be his memory. Arne is survived by his son Allan (Barbara); grandson Travis (Melissa); granddaughter Gena Haug (Scott Samulak); great-grandsons Billy Haug and Ryder Samulak; brother Gudmun (Barbara) of ON; sister Marie Gould of Winnipeg, MB; sisters-in-law Florence Haug of ON and Jenny Haug of Trail, BC; aunts Verna Tracy (nee Opsahl) and Ethel Opsahl of BC; as well as family members on the Haug, Opsahl and Grambo sides. Arne was predeceased by his wife Mildred in 1994; parents Halvor and Anna (nee Opsahl); brothers George, Hilmar and Harry; sister-in-law Betty; niece Jackie Olinyk; nephews Glen Haug and David Haug; as well as family members on the Opsahl and Grambo sides. In lieu of memorial tributes donations can be made to the charity of your choice. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Saron Lutheran Church, Hagen, SK with Pastor Art Hundeby officiating. Interment will be at Bethania Lutheran Church at a later date.
