Léoda Vautour, 96, of O'Bons Soins Residence, Shediac and formerly of Bas Cap Pelé passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital, Moncton. Born October 27, 1913 in Cap Pelé, he was the son of the late Philippe and Anna (Cormier) Vautour. Léoda was a fisherman and a carpenter prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Angeline (Goguen) Vautour of O'Bons Soins Residence, Shediac, three sons: Donald (Dorilla) of Cap Pelé, Ronald (Lucia) and Joseph "Joey" (Rachelle Hébert) both of Grand Barachois; six daughters: Carmelle Cormier of Bas Cap Pelé, Rolande Lirette of Waterloo, ON, Bernice Cormier (Joe) of Cap Pelé, Alma Cormier (Roméo), Laurette Duplessis (John) and Lauretta Hall (Carl) all of Moncton; three sisters: Éveline Richard (late Valmond) of Cap Pelé, Claudia Gaudet (late Jude) of Bas Cap Pelé and Andréa Brun (late Freddie) of Grande Digue; one adopted sister Jacqueline Goguen (Léo) of Arizona; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by five sisters: Marie, Élise, Adeline, Ozithe, Délia and by eight brothers: two infants: Odius and Ferdinand, and Ulric, Albert, Léandre, Clovis, Olivier, René.
Visitation at Funérarium Frenette, 2642 Acadie Rd., Cap Pelé (577-3297) on Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, from 1 p.m. until time of departure at 1:50 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 2p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Ste. Thérèse d'Avila Roman Catholic Church, Cap Pelé. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
