With much sadness, the family of Doris Lavonna Legrow, age 80, announce her passing at the Highcrest Nursing Home, Springhill on Friday, February 26, 2010.
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Darlene (Herrett) Smith.
Doris was a member of the St. Andrews Wesley United Church, having been a choir member for 60 years. Very much involved in crafts, as a potter she signed her creations "LAVONNA" and enjoyed all handcrafts which included sewing, macrame, rug hooking, knitting, tatting and latch hook rugs. she served for many years as a Sunday School and CGIT Teacher. A member of the IODE, she was a Past Regent. She was a former square dancer.
Doris, a devoted wife and mother will be sadly missed by her husband of 60 years, Arnold; daughters, Lee (Steve) Hamblen, Waterloo, ON and Darla (David) Bradley, Oakwood, ON; 9 grandchildren; brothers Glen (Audrey) Fillmore and Allen (Joyce) Fillmore, both of Windham, Brian (Debbie) Fillmore, Mapleton; sisters, Elaine Rector, Trenton, ON and Helen (John) Wood of Springhill.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Maureen.
Doris's remains have been entrusted into the care of the AH Brown Funeral Home, Springhill from where the funeral service was held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 4 pm. A time of visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 o'clock until the time of the service. Reception followed.
