SORENSON-Florence – It is with great sadness that the Sorenson family announces the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and sister. Florence was born on April 8, 1932 in Red Deer Hill, SK and passed away March 7, 2010. Florence attended school at Davis Elementary, Gerrond Elementary, and then Red Deer Hill School. After school she worked on the family farm until about 1949 when she moved into Prince Albert and got a job as a waitress at The Wings Café. She later left after getting married on July 22, 1950 and began starting a family of 8, 4 sons and 4 daughters. Florence remained at home for the rest of her life where she took care of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was in and out of the hospital the past few years for different things, eventually going back in February 2010. Florence is survived by her husband of almost 60 years Fred, her children Les (Deb) Sorenson of Nipawin, Sid (Linda) Sorenson of Peter Pond, Pat (Gordie) Gibb of Prince Albert, Donna (Jim) Starner of Dalmeny, Loreen (Rodney) Krein of Leader, Leanne (Brent) Davis of Prince Albert, her 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, her sisters Pearl Olson and Dorothy Huculiak, sisters- in-law Daisy, Louise, and Doris Chester, Lottie Sorenson, Mabel Bird and Eleanor Stevens, brothers-in-law Gillman Sorenson and Arnold (Merle) Chester. Florence was predeceased by her son Lorne (in infancy) and son Sam, parents William and Elizabeth Stevens, in laws Samuel and Selvina Sorenson, brothers Jack, Jim, and Chappy Stevens, brothers-in-law Pete Huculiak, Siebert and Melvyn Sorenson, Willard, Walter and Harold Chester and Colin Bird, sisters-in-law Eva Sorenson, Glaydys Sjoberg and Alice Judd, granddaughter Kimberly Sorenson, and great granddaughter Kirsten Harris. At Florence’s request there will not be a funeral. Arrangements in care of Northern Funeral Service – MacKenzie Chapel, Brian and Bev Stobbs, Jennifer Wildeman Funeral Directors.
