Roy Melvin Thorne, 72, Dalton’s Lane, Sydney, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late William ‘Bill’ and Beatrice (Kane) Thorne.
Roy was a member of the Salvation Army.
Surviving are his wife, Susan (Ash); daughters, Kim and Tina, at home; sister, Evelyn Gillis, Sydney; brother, Walter, Ontario.
Roy was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Helen Pyne and brothers, Fred and Cecil.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Sydney Community Church of the Salvation Army, Monday at 2 p.m. with Maj. Dan Roode officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Building Fund.
