The children, grand-children and great grand-children of Annie Mae Brown, along with friends and extended family will be gathering to celebrate her life on Saturday, March 13th, 2010 at Colchester Community Funeral Home at 512 Willow Street, Truro, NS. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm. The family invites you to join with them to share stories and memories following the service. Born in East Mountain, Nova Scotia on April 21st, 1919, Annie passed away in her sleep on March 8th, 2010 on what would have been the 70th anniversary of her marriage to her beloved husband, Horace who predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her parents, Harry and Maude (Matatall) Hall, her son Philip; grandson David Barbour and siblings Jean Crouse, Pearle Johnson, Flora Retan, Roy Hall, Helen Munro, and Ivan Hall. She is survived by her children, Carol and husband Jim Goddard, Tantallon, Orvin and wife Barbie, Seattle, WA, Alan and wife Joyce, Enfield, Eric and wife Hendrika, Yellowknife, NWT, Lynne and husband Donald McDormand, Bridgewater, Garth and wife Carol, Lake Echo, Susan and husband Brian McDormand, Wileville, Mae and husband Earl Busch, Tofield, AB, Sylvia and husband Donald de Vlaming, Winnipeg, MB, Kathy Creelman, Bridgewater , Norman and partner Elaine Landry, Truro and Ramona, Bible Hill; sister, Elsie Webster, Ottawa, ON; brother, Gerald Hall, East Mountain; sister-in-law Rita Walsh, Halifax. Grandchildren and step grandchildren that shared their secrets their fun and their lives include Philip, Graeme, Bill, Patrick, Lori, Jamie, Mick, Jordan, Devon, Sharla, Laura, Theresa, Lantz, Tyson, Deanna, Treena, Anita, Jan, Horace, Danika, Holly, and Ashley as well as Andrew, Sherry, Amanda, Vanessa, Harold and Eddie. Great grand-children include Amy, Lisa, Patrick Jr., Ashlee, Morgan, Jenna, Thomas, Casey, Allyssa, Ava, Abby, Geneva, Oliver, Toriana, Joshua, Skylar, Hunter, Ethan, Nathan, Raegan, Mathew, Vivian, Bradley, Chandler, Riley, Anastasia, Alexis, and Lily. An active member in every community where she lived in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, her efforts benefited numerous school and community organizations including: The Red Cross, parent–teacher groups of many schools, IOOF, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, Anglican Church Women, the Women’s Auxiliaries of several volunteer fire departments, Order of the Eastern Star, and Women’s League of the Royal Canadian Legion. As a partner and side-kick of her husband in his role as Bumps the Clown she befriended and entertained kids as Mrs. Bumps. Daughter, sister, aunt, friend, mentor, volunteer, confidante – she had many roles in her life but she always considered her legacy to be her role as wife, mother and grand-mom. She was a role model for all of us. May our lives make her proud.
