ALLAN JOHN STEWART
APRIL 29, 1924 – MARCH 8, 2010
Allan was born on the family farm Section 36 - Township 14 – Range 7 west of the 3rd Meridian. The eldest child born to Morton Clifford Stewart and Mary Reid who had emigrated west from Ontario in the early 1900’s to the Kelstern area where they settled and farmed. Dad loved many things and particularly enjoyed riding and snowmobiling. As a boy he attended the Goslin School. He went on to farm the land until his move to Regina. He thoroughly enjoyed his annual hunting and fishing trips to Northern Saskatchewan and elsewhere is the United States. It was a Christmas party at the Elks Club in Moose Jaw where he was introduced to Beryl who was to become the love of his life. They moved from the farm to Regina in 1974 and Dad worked at Promislow Company as a shipper/receiver until his retirement. Dad had varied interests. He was an avid curler and enjoyed the odd round of golf. He liked to read and he was a member of not only the Elks but of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. As a Shriner he loved the parades where he was a member of the clown patrol. He also enjoyed performing with the boys as a “Chanter†at various functions. However, a stroke in the fall of 2006 and the death of his beloved Beryl in July of 2008 took their toll and he was unable to continue to participate in the activities he truly enjoyed. He spent the last few months of his existence in the care of the lovely ladies at Oxford Place in Moose Jaw and the last few days in the compassionate care of the staff at Extendicare in Moose Jaw, a very grateful thank you to all. Allan is predeceased by his parents Morton and Mary Stewart, and his beloved wife Beryl.
