Elizabeth “Betty†ROSS
November 26, 1926 – March 7, 2010
It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of a fine wee lassie. Our mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 83. Betty leaves to mourn her children: Cheryl (Lloyd) Fitzpatrick, Wendy Bezaire, Bonnie (Barry) Ross and Kevin Ross; her grandchildren Tracey (Brad) Owen, Shawn (Mandy) Ross, Heather (Ryan) McIntosh, Colin (Jodi) Chamberlain, JJ Bezaire, Janessa, Kadin and William; her great grandchildren Darrellynn (Lenny), Caitlin and Taylor Owen; her sister Margaret in Scotland along with all of Margaret’s family; her many friends at the Christopher Lake Legion and Christopher Lake Housing Authority, especially Rae and Vivian. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Milton “Mel†in 1997; her son Terry in 2009, a son Michael in infancy; her parents and a nephew in Scotland. She was born on November 26, 1926 in Hallside Village in Cambuslang, Scotland and lived with her family until she married Dad on September 25, 1945. After they were married Dad returned to war service and 10 months later in July of 1946, Mom boarded a ship (Aquitania) by herself and came to Halifax, then on to Winnipeg by train where Dad met her and they continued on to Viscount, SK. Never seeing snow before, you can imagine Moms thoughts once she experienced her 1st Saskatchewan winter. They lived in a few small communities before settling in Montgomery Place in Saskatoon. Mom was a stay at home Mom, a job that she so enjoyed, it filled her with pride to watch us all grow up through the happy times and also the difficult times and to have been there every day to witness it. Her love for us never wavered. In 1978 Mom and Dad moved to Christopher Lake to retire and enjoy all the aspects of lake living. After Dads passing Mom moved into the seniors complex in the village where she spent many happy hours visiting and reminiscing with neighbors, playing cards with the girls, pot luck dinners, attending seniors on Mondays and spending time with her family and her beloved cat “Luckyâ€. Mom was a private person but generous in compassion and unconditional love. Her grace and dignity in dealing with life’s challenges will be remembered by us all as we move ahead without her. We say thank-you to Dr. Halyk and his nurse Colleen for taking such good care of Mom over the years and especially over the last month. A huge thank-you to the nurses and staff at the Victoria Hospital for the care and compassion during a very difficult time. At her request there will be no service. Interment at the Christopher Lake Cemetery will take place at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations in her name can be made to a charity of donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca or e-mailed to beaton@skvelocity.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
