Davis, Bruce Douglas - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Douglas Davis of Saint John, which occurred in Bradenton, Florida on March 10, 2010. Bruce was born April 4th, 1946, the son of the late Everett and Freda(Robinson) Davis. He is survived by his loving wife Lillian (Rooney) of 42 years, his son Kent (Nancy), his daughter Lorie Foster (Shane). He was fondly known as Papa to his five beautiful grandchildren, Elyshia, Kendra and Kieron Foster and Taylor and Jessica Davis. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Carolee) of Saint John and his sister Lorraine Bacon of Sarnia, his Mother and Father- in- law Margaret and John VanTassel, of Saint John, brother in law Edward Rooney of Calgary, Alberta, sister- in- laws, Linda Marr (Gary), Corrine Bourque (Edgar), Glenda Wiley (Danny) all of Saint John along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lots of dear friends. Bruce worked as a firefighter in Saint John, until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the Firefighters pipe band for many years. He was also a member of Full Gospel Assembly, and had the pleasure of going to Africa with a group of parishioners from Calvary Temple to help build a church in 1992. He loved to travel, and enjoyed his time at their cottage in the Cambridge Narrows and their winter home in Bradenton, Florida. Bruce always loved to tell a good story and continually surprised us all with ones we hadn't heard before. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will take place at the Full Gospel Assembly 34 Mt Pleasant Ave East on March 17th, 2-4 pm and 7-9pm. The Memorial Service will be held March 18th at Full Gospel Assembly at 11:00am. Donations in remembrance can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
“There is such a void in our family Dad your presence was so huge and you loved us all soo much. I wish I could get answers .....someday I will be with you again. Love you always and forever!”
“Hughie & I ran into Terry Fennell on Saturday, March 5/11 and he mentioned Bruce 's passing.
We were devastated at this news hoping it wasn't true.
Sadly, we now know it is and we are heartbroken.
We heard nothing at the time and regret that we were not even aware so that we could have brought our support to you and your family at that very difficult time.
Please accept, though late, our deepest sympathy over your great loss.
We remember Bruce with fondness and will of course remember his infectious laugh.
Love from Hughie & Rita Almon

“Lillian and family- There are no words that we can express that will take away the pain of this loss in your life. Our prayers are with you. You both have been a blessing to our mother. We loved to hear her refer to Bruce as \"My Bruce\". My Bruce did this for me... or My Bruce did that for me... Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the time that you and Bruce spent with our mother. You have always given her a feeling of security and that means the world to us. If you need anything... our family is always available for you. Love you... Betty Fedorko\'s children, Jeff, Lydia, Steve, Jeanine and Lisa ”

“Please accept our sincere condolences on Bruce\'s passing....
My parents and Bruce\'s parents had been close friends for many years and I had many great memories of our childhood adventures in Anthony\'s Cove...
Over the years we had not seen each other very often...but it was obvious whenever we met that his family..his wife, his children and grandchildren played a very important part in his life..He will be greatly missed by all..
Unfortunately we are still in Florida and will not be able to attend hie funeral...But our prayers are with you

“Our very best to Lillian and the family on this sad occasion. Our connection has been long and winding but the country property has been the most recent. As neighbours there we passed stories and passed wrenches in the greatest sense of fellowship and friendship.”

His smile and voice will always be in my mind... We love you all. ”
